Are Contact Lenses Right for You?

Contact lenses have advanced a lot since their first introduction, allowing them to address more issues in more people than ever before. At RVEC, we offer a range of contact lens types to help you find your fit.

We encourage daily disposable contact lenses that can offer enhanced convenience and comfort for almost all types of vision problems, including astigmatism. Bifocal or multifocal lenses can offer sharper vision at multiple distances, near and far. Specialty contact lenses are also available for those folks who may be “hard to fit” with traditional contact lenses.

While contact lenses have many qualities that can serve your vision, we still have to determine if they are right for you through a comprehensive exam.

Our Exam and Fitting Process

We’ll perform a comprehensive contact lens exam and fitting process to prescribe the appropriate contact lenses for your needs.

During this process, we evaluate your eye health and visual clarity, and discuss your lifestyle to help us determine your suitability for contacts. If you have hard-to-fit eyes, we can offer specialty lenses to address your concerns and help provide clear, comfortable vision.

The first step in getting contact lenses is to have an up-to-date comprehensive eye exam. We’ll assess your eye health and determine your contact lens prescription.

Our contact lens exam follows a similar process to our routine eye exams, but with a couple of different steps to help determine that the lenses we offer are right for you and your lifestyle.

A contact lens fitting is an individualized process where we determine the size and shape of your eyes to prescribe contacts that can fit properly and deliver clear vision.

During your fitting, we’ll analyze the curvature of your cornea and the quality of your tears to support your comfort.

During your fitting, we will give you a trial pair of lenses to try on. We may make some adjustments to fine-tune the fitting, and then we can order a supply of contacts once we know you’re satisfied with the lenses. We may also book a follow-up appointment or phone call in a few weeks to examine your eyes once more and see how you’re adjusting to life with contact lenses.

If you notice any irritating symptoms while wearing your contacts, please remove them and call our team as soon as you can. We can adjust your contact lenses to better suit your needs.

Specialty Contact Lenses We Offer

If you have a complex prescription or have been told in the past that your eyes are “hard to fit,” specialty contact lenses could be the solution you are looking for. We offer a variety of lens options designed to provide clear, comfortable vision for unique eye shapes and specific health needs, such as:

  • Scleral Lenses: These larger lenses rest gently on the white part of your eye, vaulting over the cornea to provide clear vision and comfort for irregular corneas or severe dry eyes.
  • RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) Lenses: Made from a durable, breathable material, these firm lenses offer crisp, sharp vision for a wide variety of prescriptions.
  • Ortho-K (Orthokeratology) Lenses: These are specially designed lenses you wear while sleeping to gently reshape your eye, allowing you to see clearly during the day without glasses or contacts.
  • Myopia Management Lenses: Designed specifically for children, these lenses help slow the progression of nearsightedness while providing clear sight for their daily activities.
  • Multifocal Lenses: These contacts have different prescription powers built in, allowing you to focus on objects up close, far away, and everywhere in between without reading glasses.
  • Toric Lenses: Shaped to correct astigmatism, these lenses are weighted at the bottom to prevent rotation so your vision remains consistently clear throughout the day.
  • Acuvue MAX Lenses: Built for our modern, screen-heavy world, these lenses are designed to reduce digital eye strain and filter blue-violet light, making screen time more comfortable.
